Kaur lived in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province and being a journalist, she wanted to highlight issues and problems faced by the Sikh community residing there. Primarily, her resilience became her reason to be nominated for the prestigious award. She is amongst hundred people selected from all over the world for her contributions in the field of journalism and her community.
Manmeet has been in the center of promoting interfaith harmony and peace in Pakistan. Her work reflected her determination to ensue unity and harmony amongst interfaith communities. Sikhs have been residing in Peshawar for almost two hundred and fifty years with many ensuing small businesses pertaining to clothing stores, pharmacies and utilities.
