Perseverance. As awful as those scenes of migrant workers are, they illustrate the “never give up” mantra that I witnessed so often in India. During the best of times, scores of India’s poor live day to day, exhausting the few rupees they make on their daily food. If there’s no work, there’s no money. If they can get back to their rural villages (sometimes hundreds of miles from Mumbai or Delhi), they trust that their families and neighbors won’t let them starve.No matter what happens, people just keep going. Facing far less daunting obstacles, we can too.
