Theresa May honours #Sikh soldiers – and helps prepare chapatti for #Vaisakhi

During the visit, members of the Sikh community in the West Midlands had a chance to meet and speak to the Prime Minister.

She paid her respects by bowing to Guru Granth Sahib Ji, the religious scripture of Sikhism, and paid tributes to the contribution Sikhs make in Britain today, before helping in the kitchen.

The Sikh soldier bust is a model of the seven foot WW1 Sikh Memorial at the National Memorial Arboretum in Staffordshire – the UK’s first and only monument to Sikh service during the Great War.
